ALTIRO FOR SWARMING

True swarming.
Orchestrated onboard.

Give the fleet an objective. Altiro puts distributed coordination onboard, so participating platforms can share mission state and organize their contributions across the systems you already use.

A shared mission across platforms
Air. Ground. Surface.Different capabilities. Common mission context.
100xEffective swarm capabilitySwarm size scales independently of the number of operators.
99%Less cognitive burdenFrom hundreds of commands to fewer than 10 for an adaptive sector search with 10 drones.
0Single points of failureC2 distributed across multiple nodes. No cloud dependency.
90%Fewer integrationsFor an 11th platform to join a heterogeneous swarm of 10.
THE PROBLEM

Today's swarms hang on a single link.

Operator-to-platform scaling

Each FPV platform, or group of about five autonomous ones, needs a dedicated operator. Fleet size is capped by operator training.

Dependence on the hub

When the link to the ground station degrades, the fleet returns to base or breaks into individually controlled platforms.

Vendor balkanization

Mixed fleets need custom one-to-one integrations, or run as parallel systems the operator must coordinate in their head.

Pilots are sitting ducks

The network link back to the operator reveals where they are.

Joint and coalition friction

Sharing across services or partners means custom integration into one side's command system, or commanders calling each other.

OPERATIONAL SCENARIO

Dispersed across three islands, under adversary EW.

0320A UAS at the northern position flags a contact at the western edge of the picture. A surface craft watching the channel picks it up two seconds later. The track is on every operator's screen automatically.
0321Satcom to higher will be unreliable for the next twenty minutes. The commander's last intent (overwatch the western approach; sustain comms relay) is already in the fleet.
0340Another UAS is jammed. A UAS in the southern position, finished with its tasking, repositions north to backfill coverage. No human intervention.
0405Satcom returns. The JFMCC's picture catches up: no gaps, no contradictions, no re-explanation needed.
WHAT CHANGES

With Altiro onboard.

One fleet across domains

  • Air, ground and surface platforms share one state layer
  • Assets assigned to the task queue regardless of OEM or service

A pool of resources

  • Multiple operators can task the same swarm
  • Rank, order and urgency decide allocation, like a data center

Plug-in interoperability

  • Integrate once against Altiro, not every platform
  • N integrations, not N²
  • Coalition partners share state without exposing their stack
Mission patterns / Configurable building blocks

Give the fleet a way to work.

Patterns can be configured through API or JSON interfaces, according to the capabilities of the domain-specific autopilot.

Area sweep

Systematic sector search with configurable grid spacing, heading and overlap.

Formation transit

V-formation, line or custom geometry, with synchronization at waypoints.

Overwatch loiter

Hold above an area of interest, ready for re-tasking as the mission changes.

Point-of-interest investigation

Break from the current task to investigate a location, then return to assigned duties.

Expanding search

Search outward from a center point along a spiral with a growing radius.

Define your own

Combine waypoint sequences and coordination rules supported by your platform’s autopilot.

INTEGRATION

Days, not quarters.

MINIMUM

Requirements

Open MAVLink-based ArduPilot/PX4 systems. One Raspberry Pi Zero, or one Arm/x86 core, per node. IP-based network.

MATURITY

TRL 7

As an enabling software layer. Demonstrated full-stack with field integration partners at Edwards AFB and Twentynine Palms in 2026.

BOUNDARIES

What it doesn't replace

Application-layer C2, mission logic, sensor fusion, COP interfaces, or network and comms technology.
